Joseph L. Unthank, PhD

Professor of Surgery and Physiology

Specialty: Vascular Surgery

Basic Research Interests: Young healthy humans have a remarkable ability for natural compensation to major arterial occlusion but this ability is diminished with aging and cardiovascular risk factors. Dr. Unthank’s research is focused on identifying the mechanisms responsible for this impairment with a goal of developing therapies to restore and enhance the natural capacity in patients with occlusive arterial disease.
