Clinical Research Interests: The current standard of care for patients with liver cancer is surgical treatment with either resection or transplantation. Unfortunately, most patients are initially unable to be treated with either of these surgical options. A comprehensive liver program offers patients a number of alternative options for treatment, including liver directed therapies that targets tumors.
Basic Research Interests: There are a number of cell types within the liver that may be directly or indirectly involved in the behavior of a tumor growing within it. Our laboratory focuses on the potential role of the supporting cells (i.e. stromal cells) in the way cancer grows and spreads within other areas of the liver and outside the liver.
