Burcin Ekser, MD, PhD received his medical degree from University of Istanbul, Turkey and University of Padua, Italy. He completed his general surgery training at the University of Padua. He completed his research fellowship in xenotransplantation and transplant immunology at the Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute, University of Pittsburgh and his clinical fellowship at Indiana University. His research interests include organ shortage, immunosuppression and xenotransplantation.

Clinical and research interests: Liver and intestinal transplantation, organ shortage, acute liver failure, xenotransplantation, xenoimmunology, genetic engineeering
