Dr. Cacioppo joined the University Plastic Surgery Associates in the Fall of 2006. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a major in Psychology. He then went on to complete his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical School. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's/ Cook County Hospital in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. After completing his General Surgery residency he came here to the Indiana University Medical Center to be trained in our Plastic Surgery Residency Program. Dr. Cacioppo then furthered his education by completing a specialized Hand Surgery Fellowship at Kleinert, Kutz and Associates in Louisville, Kentucky. After finishing he hand fellowship he returned to Indiana University to join the University Plastic Surgery Associates.
Since joining the University Plastic Surgery Associates, Dr. Cacioppo completes the full spectrum of general plastic and reconstructive surgery as well as specializing in breast reconstruction. He attended an exclusive training program in Belgium to learn the intricacies of the DIEP flap and has since completed many of this new form of breast reconstruction. He works closely with the breast team to give patients the most comprehensive multidisciplinary care available in Indiana. Dr. Cacioppo is board certified in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery.
