Dr. Hartwell graduated from Miami University with a BA in Zoology in 1998. She then attended Wright State University School of Medicine, Dayton, OH, in 2005 and went on to complete her residency in General Surgery at The University of Illinois at Chicago in 2010. She finished her Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship training from University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, Memphis, TN, in 2011. 

 

She first practiced Trauma, Emergency General Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, OH, prior to joining the faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine and IU Health Methodist Hospital in 2016. 

 

Dr. Hartwell has a special interest in Surgical Nutrition and serves as the Director of Surgical Nutrition at IU Health Methodist hospital where she champions a multi-disciplinary collaborative approach to providing superior nutrition therapy to patients.
